What Special Operations Does

The Special Operations Division brings CSPD’s high-risk response teams together under one command. It handles the incidents that fall outside a routine patrol response — barricaded subjects, hostage situations, suspicious devices, and major planned events.

The division commander also serves as the department’s emergency management liaison, coordinating the police response to everything from severe weather to large-scale gatherings across the city.
